Survivor Pool 2025 Week 2 🏈

I wish moderators wouldn’t guess at how this works. You guys should know. YES, you can change your pick as many times as you want UNTIL voting closes. This is 100% true. Just click the button and it turns black to show you who you picked. If you come back later and aren’t sure if you’ve already picked, or who you picked, or if it registered, just look at the ballot to see if the circle is black. If NO circle is black, you didn’t vote.

If you want to change your vote, there are two ways to do so. Since voting has closed for this week, I can’t see an active ballot, so this is from my memory. Either 1. Just click another circle next to the team you want to pick, and if it turns black and your previous pick’s circle turns white, then you succeeded. If instead you see a bar graph, look for the bar that’s blue; that’s who you picked. You can even look at the player icons below the bar and you’ll find yours. If there are a lot of voters, it might not initially show them all; if so, there’s a down arrow to click to show more. If you haven’t customized your icon, unfortunately you’ll just be a faceless generic icon and you’ll have to hover over each of those long enough for the name to pop up, but if the bar is blue, you’ll be there.

If voting is still open and it’s showing the bar graph, then you’ll need to reopen the ballot by scrolling to the bottom and finding a link that says something like “Show votes.” I don’t remember exactly what it says, but something like that. Click it and the ballot returns so you can change your vote.

Until the voting closes, you can change your vote as many times as you wish. Once the Thursday deadline passes, voting is closed and your vote is locked in.

The reason I’m a bit loose in my memory is that the mods don’t always post the same kind of ballot each week. You’d think there would be a well-documented method of how to do this; after all, the survivor pool has been run for many years now. But it seems each year there’s a new mod running it and they have to guess at some things. I don’t know why; perhaps the community board features change periodically. Whatever the reason, there should be very clear instructions each year, and there seems to be some loose ends that aren’t always clear.

What is clear is the deadline. Thursday, an hour before kickoff. This always wipes out 1/4 to 1/3 of the field in week 2, and continues to catch a few people each week thereafter. Most other pools don’t close until the final Monday night game, which makes sense. They obviously don’t let you vote on games that have already kicked off, but if you’re willing to pass on earlier games and restrict your vote to those unplayed games, why not? Anyway, Bovada’s survivor pool has never worked that way, so Thursday’s the deadline (be an early bird for Thanksgiving! the deadline is before the FIRST kickoff). I like Bovada’s way since it eliminates a lot of my competition! :money_mouth_face: Pay attention or don’t get paid!

Someone in this thread complained (I think) that right after voting you could see how many voted for each team, and who they are. I think there are pros and cons to that, but really, so what? It’s the same for everyone, so it’s a level playing field. Either none of us can see how everyone voted until it’s closed, or everyone can see. I don’t see it as a big deal. Right now, with most of the field still alive, most of the votes are going to the biggest favorites, so it’s no surprise. I can see some gamesmanship being worthwhile later in the season if there are just a dozen left, but again, so what? Everyone is using the same ballot, so no one has an advantage.

I hope this is clear. Just to be clear on one thing: I don’t work for Bovada; I’m not a mod. Nothing I say in this post is gospel. It’s what I think. But since the moderators posting on this pool this year all seem to be new and not sure how this works or even what we’re asking, I decided to step up and try to answer questions as best I can. If anyone notices a mistake I’ve made here, by all means please correct me. There’s no way I can look at an open ballot and test what I’m saying since this is Saturday. But I am 100% sure you can change your vote at will until voting closes.

just letting you know that i tried to change my pick but i dont think it’s possible. Once you pick your team thats it, its locked in and it can never be change. hope this helps

i picked raven.

On week 1 you can change your pick but not on week 2.

Not true. I entered one pick, then changed it. I explained it in my previous post.

Just to be clear: of course you can’t change your week 2 pick now. You can only change it up until the polls close on Thursday.

but its been like that since i made my pick.

We’ll find out on week 3. im just curious

Yes, it looks like that after you make your pick. But you can change it, as long as voting hasn’t closed.

Also, they did the poll differently week 1 and 2. Week 1 didn’t show the votes until after polls closed. Week 2 did. Who knows what they’ll do for week 3. New mods.

Look at the poll now. Scroll down to the bottom, and after Vikings with 0 votes, there’s a grayed out link: Show Vote. It’s not available now because the polls have closed, but before that, if you click that, the bar graphs disappears and it returns to a ballot with circles. You can see your blacked out vote, but if you choose another team, the vote flips over to that.

Hi @StndrDeviant, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed explanation and for helping others in the community understand how the voting process works. We truly appreciate the effort you’ve put into clarifying things.

Just to provide some additional context from our side: each week we prepare a list of players who will move on to the following week. However, if a player’s Week 2 pick was already eliminated due to choosing the wrong team in Week 1, they would no longer be included. For Week 3, once you open the voting and make a selection, it will register only one choice. You’ll also be able to review your vote after the poll closes. If you do find a way to change it after submission, please let us know, as we are aware that there is no chance of changing it once the poll is closed. Provide us all necessary screenshot or video clip.

We’ll continue working to make the process as clear and consistent as possible each week. Thanks again for your input—it really helps us improve clarity for everyone.

Hi @luckytiti , as far as we are aware there is no option to change it once it is closed. Thanks

nor should there be! That’s pretty much the definition of “closed.” I detailed how one can change one’s vote BEFORE voting closes. After the cutoff time, all votes are locked, and certainly need to be for the contest to maintain its integrity. Otherwise, we could pick the Thursday night game and if our pick loses, we could just change our vote!

I’m not sure how well I’ll be able to shoot a video of my screen with my phone while also clicking the laptop screen. I’ll try.

But you’re 100% incorrect that once a team’s circle is clicked, it can’t be changed. It’s always been that way, and I actually tested it this week. I was so certain that I first chose the Tennessee Titans, almost certainly a losing pick, then clicked my actual pick. It changed just fine.

I don’t like criticizing you guys, but honestly, it’s justified. You need to enter these contests yourselves, perhaps all the mods do. A brief announcement at the beginning to assure players that we’re not actually competing against the mods would suffice. Then you can all actually experience what we do instead of guessing. In other contests in the past, I’ve seen a mod or two enter. It’s good for you to see how this works, and when something isn’t working well, it helps you understand. Several times so far on this contest players have asked questions and it was clear from the mod’s answer they didn’t even understand the question. If they went through what we go through, they’d understand.

If I remember to do so, I’ll try to video myself changing a vote. Honestly, I’d rather you guys just try it yourself and see that I’m right. I don’t want to discover the software was changed next week and my first vote really is locked in! Hopefully I’ll be ambivalent between two choices and I can change between them without any real risk.

I just reread your post a third time and I think there is still confusion. I’m not saying you can change your vote AFTER voting closes. Of course you can’t. I’m saying you can change it BEFORE voting closes. Huge difference.

Let Russ cook!
