December 16th 2021 - Site Issues

Agreed. However they have a small group of "brains " directing changes. Or planning strategy. Hence the plan and delegation. 30 random dudes working over night wont do anything. They blew this bridge up. Now they have to rebuild it with same parts. Some junior dev dude working overnight aint helping unless he knows what to do.

We had the ice storm in Texas last year and our data center lost power for a couple of days. It sucked but I can understand them

Would be awesome to be fly on the wall. Hear the real issue. Did someone delete data? Did someone screw up or was upgrade doomed from start.

When we had our outage it was definitely an interesting climate followed by a very “pleasant” meeting

Rumor has it they are trying to find a new hamster to run on the wheel that powers the operation

The upgrade was to two hamsters. But some numb nuts bought a gerbil.

This is insider info idk if I am supposed to share and it’s clearly speculative but apparently when they started the update someone sat a bottle of “Tres Comas” tequila on the keyboard and deleted 30% of the code base mid update

Does that bottle have a worm?

I’m sticking with hosted environment and hardware issues, lol. The traffic on the community site is minimal compared to the actual Bovada, Ignition, Cafe Casino, Slots sites, so you could bring this bad boy up on some other server with relatively minimal resources. DB deletion is definitely a possibility, possible due to bad upgrade scripts doing table changes, etc. I have seen a several terabyte DB take a day to restore based on the method and configuration, backup location, etc. I feel confident saying that Bovada and it’s leadership wants the site back up as much if not more than we do, lol. Losing revenue by the minute + compensation to players = expensive, costly 48 hours.

Apparently there was someone recording the team during the initial issue.

I’m joking around, imo I tend to agree. With the sister sites down I assume there’s a shared environment for the actual gaming components.

I can totally see something with the upgrade not being backwards compatible and then having to comb through a ton of the code base to fix services and integrations in order to get things back up and running.

It’s a headache but they’re getting clobbered and they know it I guarantee they’re all hands on deck

Ok I have officially joined the ‘‘this is really bad’’ group lol

I am trying to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt, however, the longer this is dragging on the more nervous I am getting about it all.

Probably should fire whoever is your running your twitter. Imagine running a casino/sportsbook and saying this to your customers :man_facepalming:

but hey chit happens right

Would anyone leave the site permanently if there was no compensation? I’m curious as to what your thoughts are.

Probably, I have better things to do than lose my money

Personally, I laughed at the Twitter account posts, including the one making a joke. I think some folks are getting upset because it offends their inner degenerate that they refuse to look at in the mirror. All week it’s “woe is me”, “this is rigged” and “I lost a billion dollars this month”, but when a joke is made that the public took it in the shorts last Thursday night in the NFL, it really triggers some people. It’s a joke, not a dick, don’t take it so hard.

If you crash someone’s car, best not to joke about it. Even if it was funny

Nah it would be shitty of them because they’re the ones that stated they’d “make it right”, but I’m not counting on anything. My balance was empty already lol I was just gonna reload for TNF and NBA. I got to enjoy the game instead of having anxiety :joy:
