Week 7 NFL 2021 Survivor Pool

I just looked at the list from week 1 and you didn’t make a selection @Kingjoey0719

I was thinking about Patriots then realized that game is a division game, nope.

I have entries in the Circa Survivor where the winner(s) will either win outright or share 6 million dollars.

The kicker in this contest is that Thanksgiving Day and that Christmas Day games count as another week all in itself. So you actually have to make and win 20 times to win or share.

It started with 4080 entries and is down to 2224.

I mapped out the entire 20 selections before the season started and have made adjustments along the way. It’s good to have a game plan on how you think you can move forward and be able to make adjustments along the way.

On any given Sunday… one play is all it takes to change how the game ends up.

GL all…

I might stand alone on this, but I am against giving people a heads up that they didn’t get their picks in as of yet. No one should need a reminder from the contest organizer when the games are put up on Tuesday and they should be able to remind themselves that they need to put a pick in. There’s a calendar reminder, a cell phone reminder, hell even a desk calendar to remind themselves. Not that any of that is needed because we all know there’s a Thursday game with a Thursday deadline.

Don’t help those that can’t help themselves when they can easily help themselves with just a smidge of effort on their part.

You do NOT stand alone. I felt the same way when I saw the post but suppressed my inner curmudgeon. I’m glad you posted this. I hope the @moderators don’t remind people in future weeks. What’s next? Posting injury updates? This is already a well-designed, well-managed competition. Let the players fend for themselves; no coddling required.

I suspect this will be less and less of a problem as the contest continues. Only 4 people failed to make picks this week (152 survivors, per the mods) minus 148 listed picks. Darwinism is at work: the fittest will at least show up, if not survive.

Thanks for the feedback guys. There were a few instances throughout the season where some players claimed their pick wasn’t registered, so we wanted to remind everyone who did not have their pick in.

There will be no reminders moving forward though.

yes! thank you!

I’m also against further reminders. I always make a preliminary pick on Tuesday when it goes live, that way if I forget about the deadline I at least have something even if it’s not what I’d pick after research (which depending on how work goes any given week may not be much anyways).

It’s also unfair to people who forgot in earlier weeks and weren’t reminded.

I am still alive and I am 100% for the reminders. It helps to be a courteous human-being. Props to our moderator!

Point missed is this wasn’t done in any prior week and many more people forgot to submit picks. Now that we have thinned out the field a bit, we shouldn’t be changing how things are done. It’s a disadvantage to those that follow the rules and get their picks in without a reminder.

If I forget to get my picks in for Circa, they don’t call me, they give me a loss and I’m eliminated and that contest costs $1,000 an entry.

To take it one step further, players that advance to the next week already get a notification on Tuesday… Sorry but we are all adults here and should know what your obligations are if you want to continue to play the contest.

Not picking on ya Gabriel, while it may have been a nice thing to do… it is not necessary at all.

Yeah I don’t mind the reminders either. Free contest and it’s all in good fun.

Agree with @freaksforum, not a fan of the reminders.

If rams win I feel like that’s 3 straight weeks with no significant upsets. Been a boring survivor pool lately lol

Three huge upsets already, and this is only through the 1:00 games:

  1. Panthers were favored by 3 over Giants; they lost by 22, a 25-point failure to cover.
  2. Ravens were favored by 6.5 over Bengals; they lost by 24, a 30.5-point failure to cover.
  3. Chiefs were favored (WHY? :joy:) by 4.5 over Titans; they lost by 24, a 28.5-point failure to cover.

Unfortunately for us survivors (who didn’t pick them), only 2, 1, and 1 competitors respectively picked those favorites.
If your definition of a significant upset requires being favored by more than one touchdown, then I guess you’re right. There are only three such games, and they’re all 4-ish p.m. games. I picked the Rams this week, so I sure hope that isn’t an upset! :hushed:

i mean “upset” in terms of the percentage of pool players that chose teams. i believe there hasnt been a team thats lost in the last 3 weeks with more than 5 percent of the pool picking them

It’s just a matter of time until one game wipes out a chunk of the field.
