Boring photo, and I prob won’t win cause of it. But this sums up my dream for America. We should all be thankful this 4th of July for us living in the US…and we should follow this quote which so so so many people do the opposite now days.

“Democracy is a process, not a static condition… It can easily be lost, but never is fully won. Its essence is eternal struggle”.

The very idea America is based on

That we all have inalienable rights as humans

That a country functions better when we all have a voice

That we don’t shun people coming here looking for a better life but instead we open our arms to them

That we will have the right to liberty and the pursuit of happyness

That, we as a society, are only as successful as the least of us

The hot dog eating contest. It seems crazy but 1 of my favorite tradition memories with my dad when i was a kid. We made sure to never miss it. And now as an adult we always text about it. We were amazed by kobayashi and thought he would never be defeated so it was a great American moment when Joey Chestnut shocked the world and became the hot dog king.

When I initially think of 4th of July, I think of all the times spent with my entire family. Everyone all together, grilling, and watching fireworks. I’ve lost a lot of family over the years, so now sometimes when I think about 4th of July I get sad, but I have to remind myself not to be sad that those times are over, but to be grateful that they happened. Also my mother was a history teacher, so I’ve always been a big history nerd. Specifically when It comes to that time period. A group of free thinking individuals came together and said “this is not right”…let’s make this country how a country should be, our own way, with freedom, rights, equality, justice for all, and independent of any tyranny. It’s a very special thing, and we should all be grateful for those who fought and contributed to making it possible.

For me, It’s making my sure my pup doesn’t get too spooked by the fireworks! He does alright though. And he gets plenty of hot dog scraps to make up for it
