Bovada NCAA pick em Elite 8 Results

Hey ballers, here is what I have for your Elite 8 picks. I’ve gone over them several times, so the only reason I could possibly be wrong is that every day at 5 pm I have programmed a routine where our Alexa echo dots throughout the house play Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffet’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” And it would be disrespectful to Jimmy Buffet’s memory for my wife and I to abstain, so there’s a possibility I’m udnr the affulence of incohol. :champagne: :wine_glass: :cocktail:

OK, maybe not totally under the influence, but I don’t plan to drive, let’s put it that way!

Here is what I have for the Elite 8’s picks, after all the gamesmanship flipping a few games and more than a few tiebreakers. (Good for you! I’d do the same!)

One last observation: For all five Thursday evening games, as well as the Charleston Southern at Winthrop game Friday evening, everyone picked the same winner. So the first chance for anyone to take the lead will be Longwood at UNC Asheville.

Here is how the picks break down by game:

Game Away Home
1 American at Boston University 0 8
2 Indiana St. at Valparaiso 0 8
3 Tulane at Temple 8 0
4 Michigan at Iowa 8 0
5 South Florida at Memphis 8 0
6 Charleston Southern at Winthrop 0 8
7 Longwood at UNC Asheville 2 6
8 VCU at Dayton 3 5
9 St. John’s at Seton Hall 7 1
10 UNLV at San Diego St. 2 6
11 Arkansas at Missouri 3 5
12 Butler at DePaul 1 7
13 Louisville at Miami FL 1 7
14 Richmond at Duquesne 1 7
15 Stanford at N.C. State 1 7
16 Florida at Kentucky 7 1
17 New Mexico at Utah St. 0 8
18 Indiana at Ohio St. 0 8
19 North Carolina at Duke 0 8
20 Oklahoma at Texas 0 8
21 UCLA at USC 7 1
22 Washington at Oregon 3 5
23 Penn St. at Rutgers 0 8
24 East Carolina at UAB 0 8
25 UTSA at Rice 0 8

So three games are split 5-3,
two games are split 6-2, and
seven games are split 7-1.

So nearly half the games are contested by our contestants.

:thinking: I guess that makes sense.

Exciting contest so far!

After an uneventful Thursday, in which all eight players picked the same five teams :yawning_face:, things changed dramatically during Friday’s four games, so much so that in 3 of the 4 matchups, we’re at “match point,” to borrow a term from tennis. In other words, three matches are already guaranteed to be no worse than ties for the leader.

Competitor Score
@johnl57 6
@TheGreedyFish 8

@nrunkel 8
@BomboRiviera 7

@Camelwak1257 6
@CLew21 7

@jwrobel21 8
@ngiftakis 6

TheGreedyFish leads johnl57 by 2, and of the remaining 16 games, they only differ in their picks on 2 games. So Greedy is has a commanding lead: “double match point;” unless johnl57 prevails Saturday with Kentucky over Florida and UCLA over USC, Greedy moves on to the Final Four. Otherwise, it goes to the tiebreaker.

BomboRiviera only trails nrunkel by 1, but the only remaining contested game for them is the 11:00 PM EST Washington vs. Oregon game. An Oregon win will send it to the tiebreaker; a Washington win sends nrunkel to the Final Four.

jwrobel21 leads ngiftakis by 2, and they only have two contested games left, so that’s a second double match point contest. Wins by both Arkansas and Louisville are needed to send this matchup to a tiebreaker; otherwise, jwrobel21 is on to the Final Four.

Finally, our most wide open contest is Camelwak1257 vs. CLew21. They’re within 1 point of each other, but three games Saturday are contested, so it could easily go either way.

For all four matches, Sunday picks are identical, so unless we have ties, which will make us wait for the tiebreakers from Sunday’s UTSA vs. Rice game, we could know the last of our four winners by about 1 AM Sunday morning when the Washington vs. Oregon game is over.

Good contest, folks! Keep those :crossed_fingers:

Oops, I made a mistake, although it doesn’t change anything I wrote. I had UNLV vs SDSU as a Saturday game, and it was actually played Friday. The margins for all four contests remain the same, but the score changed a bit:

Sorry 'bout that.

Congrats @Camelwak1257! You’re the only one who picked Butler, and their win moved you back into a tie with @CLew21. Nail biter.

And congrats to @ngiftakis! You needed that overtime win by Arkansas to keep you alive, and your heart is beating strong now. If Louisville wins, you two go to tomorrow’s tiebreaker. (But if Miami wins, you’re “road kill” and @jwrobel21 moves on to the Final Four!)

I saw and thought that too :beers:

I need a shootout for that tiebreaker. Not sure what I was thinking going 161. Last time they played it was high scoring but I think I screwed up and meant 151 originally idk what I was thinking

Duel
Two amazing matches both end in a tie and will await tomorrow’s tiebreaker.

With all remaining games picked the same, @jwrobel21 and @ngiftakis are knotted at 10-10, and @Camelwak1257 and @CLew21 are tied 9-9.

@TheGreedyFish can still eliminate @johnl57 with either a Florida win over Kentucky or a USC win over UCLA. If neither happens, that match will also be decided Sunday by tiebreaker.

@nrunkel currently leads @BomboRiviera 10-9 and must win with his pick of Washington over Oregon at 11 PM Eastern to close out the match. If not, that will also go to tiebreaker!

WOW!

[checking the rules, reading the fine print, and I don’t believe pistols at 10 paces will decide these matches, but I’m checking with @Rmilia1 on that one]

Rock Paper Scissors

Less interesting but also less deadly way to resolve 152.
